'Mother' is the central figure in anyone's life. She gives us birth and
she is our first teacher. We receive our first impressions of life in
this world from her. She is our source of food, comfort and shelter, but
even more than that, she is our source of love and security. The guidelines
she offers in our early years help us negotiate our way through the maze
of influences, good and bad that surround us as we grow up. A mother's
function is two-fold, to give birth and then steer and nurture the child
through to adulthood.

Jagat Janani Mata Shri Raj Rajeshwari
Devi |
An ordinary mother has many responsibilities, but an even greater responsibility
rests upon the 'spiritual mother' who initiates not one, but millions
of aspirants into the spiritual life and guides them to spiritual maturity.
Such a spiritual force was Shri Rajeshwari Devi, known the world over
as 'Mata Ji' or 'Holy Mother' For more than three decades she travelled
continuously throughout India and abroad, spreading 'atmagyan', the Knowledge
of the Soul, continuing the work begun by her late husband, Shri Hans
Ji Maharaj.
